Host a Book Drive

Book drives make a difference

We welcome you to gather your friends, family, and community and join us in promoting literacy and diversity in books by hosting a book drive.

No matter whether you host one in person or virtually, you will be planting seeds of social change as literacy is a key determinant of academic, social, and economic success.

Purchase books from One of our WishListS

We have wishlists on our Bookshop Page, and Amazon with carefully chosen books to benefit the youth we serve. The books focus on leadership development, career exploration, and cultural appreciation and are designed to support both in-person and virtual book drives.

 
 

If you would like to create a registry for your book drive, you can do so on Bookshop.

You would want to do the following:

  1. Go to Bookshop’s Wishlist and Registry tab

  2. Choose to create a registry

  3. Choose a shipping address. If you would like to send it directly to PPGJLI our address is P.O. Box 131894, St. Paul, MN 55113

  4. Choose Planting People Growing Justice as your Affiliate bookstore.

 
 

  1. Pick a beginning and ending date.

  2. Pick a place to host the drive.

  3. Invite volunteers to join you.

  4. Let others know you are promoting literacy locally by collecting books.

    • social media (tag us @plantingpeoplegrowingjustice and we’ll help you get the word out)

    • flyers

    • email

    • text

5. Include details in your communication.

  • contact info

  • dates/time/place

  • location of collection bins

6. Specify the type of books being collected.

  • new or like-new

  • diverse children’s books

  • ages 0-18

7. Make sure large sturdy collection bins are available and easy to find.

8. Provide updates to keep the momentum going.

9. Mail the books to PO Box 131894, Saint Paul, MN 55113

10. For larger donations, drop off at our office
